Sericolite (Selenite)

Selenite is the crystallized form of the more common gypsum. It takes its name from the Greek goddess of the moon, Selene. The Greeks used it like glass and the light that filtered through the crystal was very reminiscent of the light emitted by the moon, which is why it is called that (not to be confused with the precious stone Moonstone).
