Paesina stone

The so-called Paesina Stone is a limestone sedimentation originated on the bottom of the sea around 50 million years ago ( Eocene – Paleocene).The landscapes, like those of a picture, are natural, being shaped by mineral solutions (iron-manganese) which make the Paesina Stone a real geological wonder appreciated and worked since 1588 by " Medicean Opificio Delle Pietre Dure" in Florence.In Florence, the Paesina Stone was particularly appreciated during the Renaissance under the Medici dominion, when it was considered a special and precious ornament for furniture and tables, even combined with semiprecious stones for the beautiful inlay works.
