Garnet, stone of courage

Stone of the month January!

Meaning and variety of the mineral

The name Garnet derives from the Latin "Granatus" (with grains), with a probable reference to "Malum granatum" (pomegranate), a plant with red-seeded fruits of shape, size and color similar to those of some crystals of the mineral.

The name of garnets indicates an entire mineralogical group that is very interesting for the variety of shapes and splendid colors.

Pyrope: Ruby-red rhodolite

Almandine: red-violet color

Spessartite: yellow-honey, yellow-brown color

Andradite: Green, Green-Yellow Demantoid, Golden-Yellow Topazolite, Black Melanite

Uvarovite: intense emerald-green colour

Garnet properties in crystal therapy

Garnet is the stone of courage, in ancient times considered the stone of heroes as it was dedicated to those who were able to withstand difficult tests of courage. In crystallotherapy it helps to get out of those situations that seem to have no way out. Wearing garnet jewelery promotes self-confidence, willpower and joie de vivre. Gives the ability to consider obstacles as fundamental challenges for growth and happiness. Stimulates the development of new ideas, strengthening the ability to translate them into practice, even if others are hostile to them.

It is one of the best protective stones as it is linked to the Fire Element.
