Selenite, properties and meaning of the stone of tranquility

Meaning of Selenite

Selenite is the crystallized form of the most common gypsum. It got its name from the Greek goddess of the moon, Selene. The Greeks used it as glass and the light that filtered through the crystal was very reminiscent of the light emitted by the moon, which is why it is so called (not to be confused with the precious stone Moonstone). Its color varies from white to transparent.
